Engine Rebuild

The 350 engine has 1968  461 casting heads. The  broken exhaust manifold will be repaired in house. One of the chrome plated AC spark plugs has a light bulb installed to light the cylinder. Carb is complete but needs much restoration work. Some pieces are extensively pitted and will be replaced with identical original GM parts before they are sent out for the show chrome work.

Other than the broken exhaust manifold, everything is in pretty good shape. The bottom end (crankshaft and connecting rods)  are all chrome plated. The crank is actually cut into two sections and machined down on both ends to ride smoothly on sealed roller bearings. The flywheel attaches to the remaining section of the crank. The camshaft is also installed with roller bearings, however the rod bearings are actually thin Teflon strips with thin brass ships for a tight fit. After complete teardown, all components are headed for a good washing.

Starter motor is housed in a clear Plexiglas tube. The 350 standard pistons utilize plastic wrist pins.

Everything gets a thorough washing and dry down before inspection to determine the proper restoration to take place on each piece.
